If, while strolling around the picturesque streets of Agios Leon
village in Zakynthos Island, you hear the characteristic
sound of a loom working, don’t be surprised;
you are probably outside Anemidi shop.
Anemidi is a family business and many of
its wares are handmade by Ms. Panagiota and
her amazing original loom.
The loom is a unique characteristic of the shop;
indeed, “Anemidi” is the name of a specific part
of the traditional weaving equipment.
The loom was purchased 10 years ago by Ms. Panagiota,
whose first project was a pink & white carpet.
Of course, as you will see, her art has improved massively!
In Anemidi you can find from handmade woven textiles
to other handmade artifacts such as dreamcatchers
and creations from sea-wood, as well as local products
such as olive oil, wine, honey, olives, and traditional Greek desserts.
